Petrified Wood

Petrified wood is a type of fossil remains of ancient terrestrial vegetation. Which resulted from the transformation of fully arboreal or semi-arboreal plants into rocks by mineralization. Where all the woody organic matter is replaced by minerals such as silicate and quartz, while preserving the original composition of the original texture.

Moreover, it occurs when organic matter in a plant is transformed into minerals before eventually “turning into stone”. This process would preserve the natural shapes of fossilized plants with their anatomical details accurately and in a stereoscopic manner.

It is estimated to be about 65 million years old.
